Memory games built around your own photos
Most memory games ask you to remember shapes, cards or sequences someone else designed. PicEra asks you to remember your own life: a photo from your camera roll appears, and you guess the month and year it was taken.
This page is the hub for every mode and every guide on the site. Start here if you want to see how PicEra works before picking a mode.
The game modes
PicEra has three ways to play. They share the same core idea — look at a photo, place it in time — but the pressure and the pacing are different.
- Daily Challenge: five rounds, once per rolling 24-hour window, with a streak you can keep alive.
- Photo Quiz: multiple-choice rounds where you pick the correct month and year from four alternatives.
- Uncertainty Challenge: the photo starts blurred and you hold to sharpen it — the longer you look, the less the round is worth.
Lifelines, credits and XP
When a photo could plausibly be from three different summers, lifelines narrow it down. The Years lifeline costs 2 credits and shrinks the range of possible years; the Months lifeline costs 3 credits and reduces the months you have to choose between.
Every round awards XP based on how close your guess was. XP raises your level, and badges such as Time Traveler, Bullseye, Refill, Quiz Master and All-Round unlock as you cover more modes and eras.
Your photos never leave the phone
PicEra reads photos from your camera roll on the device and stores progress in local storage. Nothing is uploaded, there are no accounts to create, and the game does not track your location. If you would rather not grant photo access at all, the app falls back to built-in demo photos.
