Guess when a photo was taken — and see how close you got
Looking at an old picture and wondering "wait, was that two years ago or five?" is a familiar feeling. PicEra turns that moment into a scored game.
The loop is deliberately simple: see the photo, guess the month and year, submit, get your score.
The five steps of a round
Nothing is hidden and nothing is automatic. You are the one dating the photo.
- 1. A photo from your library appears.
- 2. You pick a year.
- 3. You pick a month.
- 4. You submit your guess.
- 5. The game shows the distance between your guess and the answer, plus points and XP.
What PicEra does not do
PicEra does not analyse the image to work out when it was taken, and it does not tell you the date before you commit. It simply compares your answer to the photo's own date and scores the difference. If you have no idea, a lifeline can narrow the range: Years costs 2 credits, Months costs 3.
Reading the clues
Regular players learn to date pictures from context: the coat someone is wearing, the length of the shadows, a haircut, a phone case, snow on a driveway. Landscape light is a surprisingly strong signal for the month, while people and objects tend to give away the year.

Frequently asked questions
Does PicEra figure out the date from the photo itself?
No. You make the guess; the app only compares it with the photo's own date to score you.
What if I have no idea when a photo was taken?
Use a lifeline. Years narrows the possible years for 2 credits, Months narrows the months for 3.
